Dear Fellow Club Members:

A huge thank you to all who braved the downpours and washed-out course of our VYCCF 7th Annual Bike/Walk on February 18. In spite of the horrendous conditions, the event was a resounding success! Many thanks to the VYC staff and team who moved everything inside—and a special thanks to the Venice High School ROTC cadets! More than 200 dedicated participants and supporters attended the post-race breakfast.

Final total funds raised (thanks to our participants, participant sponsors and our event sponsors) was $103,765.00. Top Teams: Beleza Bikers $14,075; Mean Shaheen Biking Machine $9,710; Hoosier State of Mind $7,550. Top Bikers: Tina Shaheen $3,460; Alvin Spearman $2,900; Michael Nemser $2,725.

As part of our first grant cycle, four checks were presented at the Bike Ride. These went to: Our Mothers House, Children First, Sun Coast Reef Rovers, and VHS MCROTC. Each check was for $5,000 and so far this year the VYCCF has given $31,000 of the first grant cycle budget of $75,000. The remaining grants will be delivered between March and May.

Mark your calendars now! The VYCCF’s next fundraising event is our “Jazz Under the Stars” on Thursday, April 18. We are fortunate once again to have the Venice High School Band performing for this highly anticipated – and always sold-out event!
