Happy, happy summer days!
Let me begin by saying Jazz Under The Stars was an amazing success. The High School Jazz Band was spectacular. Every one of these students is so talented. We hope they will be coming back to play again soon. The wine grab went quickly and well. We raised $1,000! In turn, we donated $1,000 to the Venice High School Music Boosters Club in appreciation of this fine performance! The Jazz Under the Stars sponsorships have brought in over $7,000 to date.
That evening, a $5,000 grant was presented to Southeastern Guide Dogs. Our Mother’s House received the same, along with a directed gift of $2,800 for a total of $7,800. The Sheriff’s Annual Fishing League was given a $1,000 grant, and the TWIG, supporting homeless teens, was given a grant for $5,000. Thus far in 2022, thanks to your generosity and support, we have donated $41,800!! And we have already raised over 90% of our 2022 fundraising goal. Wow! Again, thank you, one and all.
On an April Saturday, sod was laid at the VYC Habitat For Humanity sponsored house; all hands were on deck, and it was lots of dirty work. We had eight volunteers to complete the work, and have given approximately 120 hours in total!
A giant thank you to all involved.
Please note Rockin’ Pianos is only days away, so if there are still reservations to be had, please join us for this fun night. Last year’s event was an entertaining sellout!
On a somber note, one of our long time VYCCF committee members, Warren Major, passed away in April. Warren was a committed, hard-working member of our committee who was always willing to serve with a smile, and especially enjoyed working on our veterans’ programs. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his wife, Cherie, and family. Thank you, Warren, we will miss you, and “Go, Michigan!”
With sincere appreciation,
Noni Lavelle
