Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation
From VYC Currents - October 2021
Where did the summer go? It is hard to believe October is already rolling in. Let me begin with some more exciting details about our Blues Bistro Event on Thursday, October 7. The Steve Arvey Band will entertain us. Barbara Isaacson and Marty Wood, co-chairs of the event, worked on the menu with Chef Josh. We will also have a silent auction compliments of Reflections in Gold. Thank you to Liz Maggio who will donate numerous items which will be under $100. Make your reservations early as it will be a sell out at $35 per person!
Sylvia Hollister, a hard-working member of the VYCCF for three years, has agreed to be the Committee Chair for next year. She has been acting as co-vice chair alongside our hard-working Dave Slaman since June. We are thrilled to have her expertise on board.
Grants abound this fall beginning with a $2,500 presentation made in September by John Holic, Noni Lavelle, and Debbie Staudt to the Venice Firefighters Benevolent Society. This grant assists needy students with school supplies and other things necessary for a strong start to this school year.
We had a unanimous vote at our Aug. 24 meeting to move forward with a $5,000 grant to Loveland Center to take advantage of a $50,000 matching gift program funded by our P/C Ernie Skinner. Loveland has been voted one of the best 501(c)(3) in the country. This grant was also done in September as their fiscal year ended Sept. 30.
Please mark your calendars for our Donor Appreciation event on Thursday, Nov 11. We will have grant presentations to SKY Y and the Venice Police Depart Blue Santa - Shop With a Cop program. Representatives from each will be present. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Thank you for a banner year of generous contributions to our charitable foundation! Each of you has made it possible to make life better for so many in our community!!
With sincere appreciation,
Noni Lavelle
