Greetings! There was lots of excitement in the air when VYCCF held our Jazz Under the Stars event. It was a perfect evening with glorious weather, a monster crowd of over 170, and jazzy melodies flowing up into the sky! A special thank you to VYC managers and staff for the outstanding food and service. Superlative as always. A total of $12,020 was raised, including the Wine Grab and sponsorships. Kudos to our event committee of Sylvia Hollister, Barbara Isaacson, Barbara Price, and Ann Van Cott. Way to go, ladies!

Grant recipients representatives from The TWIG and Student Assistance Program (SAP). were present to receive Signature Projects $10,000 grants for the 2021 fiscal year: Nicole Britton from The TWIG accepted their grant, which was matched by Gulf Coast Community Foundation. The total of $20,000 is for a new transit van to be used for product support transport between their facilities.

The second “partnership” grant to SAP at Venice High School was accepted by Jennifer Johnston of Gulf Coast Community Foundation. The program has been instituted in 11 high schools in Sarasota County to provide trained counselors to focus on the rising level of stressful psychological and behavioral issues among our teenagers.

Also in April, a grant was made for $5,000 to All Faiths Food Bank to support their summer hunger campaign. Many area children face hunger during the summer months when school is not in session. Our grant was matched by private individuals for a total of $10,000.

Joseph Occhino, Treasurer of the Venice Youth Boating Association, said in his thank you upon receiving their $5000 grant from us, “This gift is a foundational anchor for our program and the continued support is critical to VYBA’s success.”

Another thank you came in from Southeastern Guide Dogs for the $5,000 VYCCF gave them. “It’s always a pleasure to introduce our wonderful people, dogs and facilities to the supporters who make our mission possible” said CFO Titus Herman.

Additionally, a $1,000 annual grant was made to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Children Fishing Tournament that is hosted by VYC.

Our total planned grants for fiscal year 2021 now stands at $101,000. Wow.!

A special thank you to everyone for everything you do! Enjoy our beautiful Club this summer.

With sincere appreciation,
Noni Lavelle
