Greetings!
Here we are in the time of COVID, yet the VYCCF managed to orchestrate a fabulous evening on August 20! The Blues Bistro was held with 120 revelers. They came together for a spectacular time of dancing and enjoying the sounds of JP Soars and the Red Hots. Jennifer Kessler headed the committee for this fun-filled evening assisted by Sylvia Hollister, Babs and Don Healy, Cheryl Hall, and Warren Major. Bob Piel and the Wine Club provided over 30 bottles which were quickly snapped up at the Wine Grab early in the evening. The live auction held a little later was quite entertaining with two wine tastings compliments of Total Wine and More. A spectacular, sparkling diamond necklace donated by Liz Maggio of Reflections in Gold was won after a very tense bidding competition.

The evening raised over $8,050 for the charities we support. Jewish Family and Children’s Services’ for their Operation Military Assistance Program received a $5,000 grant, and its CEO gave us a moving informational presentation of the assistance they provide to our veterans. A hearty thank you to one and all! After canceling VYCCF’s earlier fundraisers due to the pandemic, we loved and appreciated the support of so many of you!

I am thrilled to report the overwhelming response to our Annual Appeal. It appears we will exceed our goal of raising over $120,000 for this fiscal year!

At our August Committee Meeting we reviewed upcoming events. Everyone is invited to join our team of volunteers for the All Faiths Food Bank. We are gearing up for the third Thursday in October, We will be limited to 10 volunteers on Oct 15, so. please contact AFFB Ambassadors Warren Major or Cheryl Cook, if you are interested in joining us that day. Thursday, Nov. 5 is the date for our Annual Donor Appreciation Evening. Feb. 21,2021 is set for the Fourth Annual Ride For A Better Community and we are seeking sponsors; if you are interested, please contact Dave Slaman.
