Happy New Year from the Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation (VYCCF) Committee. We hope your holidays were filled with family, friends, lots of joy and that this new year is a happy and healthy one for all.

To kick-off the holiday season the VYCCF hosted our Donor Appreciation Evening which was attended by many of our member donors. Displays from all the charities we supported in 2019 were set-up to allow attendees to see and hear about the good works these organizations provide to make our community/our home a better place. We heard presentations from speakers representing organizations that received financial grants from the VYCCF during the past year. These were Ellen McLaughlin, Program Director, Sarasota Area YMCA and Rafael Robles, Chief Philanthropy Officer, Loveland Center. Ms. McLaughlin spoke on the youth homeless problem in our area and Mr. Robles gave a moving presentation on the good works provided by his organization to special needs children in the community. Everyone clearly understood that VYCCF financial assistance for these organizations is extremely helpful to their collective efforts with area youths.

With the holidays behind us I hope everyone is outside enjoying a little walking and biking. Speaking of biking, please Save the Date Sunday, February 23, for our 3rd Annual Ride for a Better Community. The ride is scheduled for and is truly an event for the whole family. So urge your friends and neighbors to also join in the fun.

It is a 12-mile “Fun” Ride around Venice Island. The ride starts and ends in the VYC parking lot followed by a fantastic breakfast outside by the Tiki. The route is well marked with low to no vehicle traffic. We will have a police escort down Tarpon Center and the Esplanade, and support by the Marine Corp Junior ROTC from Venice HS. There will be music provided by WC Sounds. All registrants receive a “classy” wicking material commemorative t-shirt! You can register on-line as a rider; sponsor the loop of any rider at www.vyccf.com or pick up a registration form at the Club. Don’t delay. Register today and help us raise funds to make our community a better place.
