Whoa, is it really autumn already?
Here we are in October, looking forward to a change of seasons, PLUS celebrations of wonderful holidays to come. For our Charitable Foundation we anticipate the final events of our 2018: N-VEST program and our Fall Grant Cycle completing on November 1.
Let’s look at this whirlwind year
(Nov 1, 2017 – Oct 31, 2018):
- Our First Annual VYCCF Benefit Bike Ride, kicking off our fiscal year at a record pace.
- A Donor Appreciation Night with members and grant recipients celebrating our impact in our community.
- Spring Grant Cycle, giving away by May 1, $50,248.00 across the spectrum of our N-VEST Project.
- Jazz under the Stars party with jazz, dancing and giving to causes we are committed to, all on a beautiful evening.
- The Blues Bistro Evening, enjoying great food, pulsating blues and spirited bidding! Every dollar from sponsors and donors building our fund for one purpose: Investing in our Community to enable families, children and veterans at-risk to move from despair to hope.
- And now, here we are looking to culminate a year in which our VYCCF Committee declared that Nutrition, Veteran services, Education and health, and ShelTer are the building blocks of opportunity.
These are investments we must make because when one family is hungry, when one veteran is hurting, when one child cannot read, and when people among us are not safe or sheltered, then the fabric of our total community is at risk. On October 13, we will gather for a cause, not just an event. We will declare with our presence and our gifting, that we are stronger when all are stronger and our own hopes grow when all families and children can be hopeful of a path ahead.
Nutrition, Veterans, Education and ShelTer is not a marketing tool, it is a value statement of our character, the essence of our humanity. Please join us on Saturday, October 13, at 6:00 p.m. for our Comedy Night and Auction benefit, to enjoy an evening of auctions, food, music and fun, but most of all…come to celebrate and contribute from the wealth of our character and the hopes of our common humanity.
Respectfully submitted,
Don Healy, Chair
