2018: A Milestone Year for Caring

The Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation surpassed a significant milestone in 2018. With your support of our N-VEST program and our Fall Grant Cycle, our Foundation provided grants to local charities that now total over $500,000 since our inception in 2010!

I am not sure if any of us know where our path will lead when we take a new, first step. What did the VYC really think would happen, when it founded our Charitable Committee with a short simple description of a mission of local giving? Did we know that we would help homeless single moms regain a life of hope and a thriving family life? Did we envision a battle against hunger, helping to feed more than 40,000 children in the summer of 2018? Were we aware that our committee would join forces with literacy and reading programs to open up a world of wonder and success for so many children and adults? Did we really understand that the young men and women who serve around the world would need our gifts to survive the physical and spiritual hardships of war, as they return home?

How exciting it is to realize that our journey has done all of that and more. They say that you discover your true character and values on the journey of life, and that the goals you achieve are just more places to take another first step.

It has been an honor to work with you in 2018 focusing on Nutrition, Veterans Services, Education & Health, Shelter and Safety. Our committee is privileged to call you all friends. Together we have demonstrated that there are many hearts who believe in kindness, hope, and opportunity for all. Thank you for your support and please take a moment to thank the committee members listed below; they are responsible for guiding us along our journey to change lives, to help those who feel helpless, and to give to those who will someday give back.
