Auction Benefit … Please attend to help make a difference. Our NEST: Nutrition, Education, ShelTer, for the Children Auction Benefit is on October 14. We reached $73,000 of our $110,000 fundraising goal for the year ending November 1. Your participation in this event will allow us to reach our goal and to continue our good work as we chart our course to a better community.

The event will be a fun, action packed evening. Bob Teesdale will be at the piano for your listening and dancing enjoyment. Commodore Kerry Carper will be our auctioneer. Chef Josh has prepared a special served meal reflecting the spirit of our Signature Project focused on the childhood issues of hunger, literacy, and homelessness.

We received over 160 wonderful auction items worth over $35,000. You may bid on beautiful jewelry from Classic Creations, Heitel, and Reflections in Gold. You might want one of our dinners for a crowd at Bonefish Grill or Fins, or an exciting travel opportunity on Holland America Lines or to the PGA Resort in Palm Beach. Or maybe you want Tiki John to bartend your party for up to 100 friends. You might fancy a cruise on a member’s sailboat or a MarineMax powerboat. There is so much for you to choose that you won’t want to put your hand down as Commodore Carper leads the auction.

Our silent auction has many items to pique your interest. There will be many entertainment options from the Venice Theatre, the Sarasota Opera, the Sarasota Ballet, the Florida Studio Theatre, the Ringling Museum, and the Venice Symphony. Dining options galore will be present with gift certificates from Allegro Bistro, British Open Pub, Café Venice, Cassariano’s, De Fina’s, Flemings, Mattison’s, Rosebud’s, Ruth Chris, and many more. There will be passes to Seaworld, automotive accessories from Matthews Currie Ford, and golf outings. There will be jewelry, artwork, boat show passes, gift baskets, a pie a month from Caribbean Pie Company, paintings by Sir John & Suzie Seerey-Lester, sunglasses from Eyes on You, and so much more.

Our auction brochures will be available at the Club beginning on October 6. Please organize your table and call the Club to make your reservations, with meal choice, for a fun evening. And you may charge all your auction winnings to your member account. A great thanks to all who enjoyed our first Blues Bistro in the Sunset Room on August 10. It was a great success with all enjoying fine music, a great small bites menu from Chef Josh and a fun raffle giveaway.

Please look for our save the date ad on page 9 for our first annual Fun Ride around Venice Island. This is a flat, 12-mile course with a pancake breakfast to follow. So, sign up now for this fun event.
