Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation

Our latest grant cycle for the Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation ended on November 1. At the time of this writing, our Committee was scheduled to meet in November to review the grant applications and decide what grants to award. We had approximately $13,500 which could be distributed for grants this cycle.

You should have received a letter from me in your November dues statement reminding you of the Yacht Club Foundation and our annual appeal. Many of our members make tax-deductible, year-end gifts to the Foundation.

We have a good group of Committee members at the Foundation but we are looking for new members. It has been my honor to serve as Chairman for 2014 and 2015. Please let me or Commodore Melinda Short or Vice Commodore Jim DeNiro know if you are interested.

Our Foundation’s spending policy is to award grants in the amount of 80% of the donations received in the grant cycle. The Foundation’s spending policy provides that grants will be given in support of the broad categories of (1) youth boating, (2) health and education, (3) veterans and active military, (4) the environment, and (5) civic improvement.
