From VYC Currents - January 2012

Fellow members...
As I write this on 12/1/11, the initial response to our 2012 fundraising letter has been nothing short of amazing. Within two weeks of sending the letter, we had over a dozen VYC members open up their hearts to those in our community who are less fortunate. This year, we will publish our donor list on a quarterly basis in the 2012 April, July and October issues of the Currents and recognize all of our 2012 donors in the January, 2013 issue.

I’d like to thank the original committee – Janice Wood, Merle Graser, Matt DePalma and Kristine Cox as well as those who joined since our inception - Michael Nemser, Dupont Snowden and Jerry Jarrett, for their hard work and guidance. By the time you read this, the 2012 committee will have been chosen and plans for another rewarding and successful year will be well underway. Please remember to communicate with these representatives – this is your Foundation and we need your input as we proceed. The Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation has already made a real difference in the lives of many, demonstrating to the community that VYC is not only a wonderful social organization but one which recognizes a responsibility to those in need. As I mentioned in my previous column, our members will be able to donate through their club account this year. Donor cards and envelopes are available at the Club – just check the appropriate box on the card, fill in an amount, seal the envelope and give it to one of the staff. Or, if you prefer, you may enclose a check. We have also arranged for secure credit card donations through the Gulf Coast Foundation website. Go to www.gulfcoastcf.org, click on the Give Now icon on the top right side of the screen and then select Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation from the drop down list.

Thanks to all our donors for your generosity and helping to demonstrate to the community that VYC is the place for “Good Times and Good Works.” Remember, we never stand taller than when we stoop down to help those who have fallen.
