Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation
From VYC Currents - December 2012
The 2012 VYCCF committee, Matt DePalma, Merle Graser, Jerry Jarrett, Michael Nemser, Dewey Snowden, David Yarzab, Bob Piel as board liaison, and we as co-chairs, conducted the Fall Grant Cycle meeting on November 9, to consider eleven grant applications received from a variety of local non-profits. It is notable that in this grant cycle, we received applications in all four of our categories: youth boating, health/education, veterans/active military and the environment.
Due to the print deadline for the December Currents (November 1), we cannot here report to you concerning the successful applicants nor highlight grant recipients – stayed tuned for the next issue!
Each application is vetted by all committee members in advance of the meeting. As always, thoughtful discussion marks the decision-making process. We have been fortunate to have the involvement of committee members of varied backgrounds and professions, each of whom exhibits true commitment to the cause in both time and motivation.
Our fall appeal has been the single request this year for your contribution. Our direct mail request for your 2012 donation is in your hands. It has been timed to reach you as you consider your year-end giving, and of course, this is also the season of thanksgiving and gratitude.
Because of our affiliation with the Gulf Coast Community Foundation in Venice, all donations are tax deductible. Your foundation can accept gifts not only from VYC members and summer members, but also from the community. Again this year, VYC members are able to make their annual donation through club accounts, but you may also contribute via a paper check, or through secure credit card transactions on the Gulf Coast website (www.gulfcoastcf.org)…click on the GIVE NOW icon on the top right side of the screen and then select Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation from the drop down list.
We continually strive to educate all VYC members about the good works of your foundation.
