Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation
From VYC Currents - March 2011
Fellow members...
In last month’s column, I reported that we had achieved 80% of our initial funding goal of $50,000. I’m happy to report that we have now exceeded that goal, mainly through the generosity of the members listed at left. However, we continue to have less than 10% of our membership participating so we have a lot more work to do.
To make contributing more convenient, we have arranged for secure credit card donations through the Gulf Coast Foundation website. Go to www.gulfcoastcf.org, click on the Give Now icon on the top right side of the screen and then select Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation from the drop down list. It’s that easy.
We are planning a kick-off reception at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, 4/2/11 in the Sunset Room. We’ll be announcing our latest grant to a local, deserving charity. It’s opening day weekend for baseball so please come out and join us for our own opening night. We’ll have passed hors d'oeuvres to enjoy and the bar will be open.
Afterwards, Chef Marc will be preparing a great menu downstairs so don’t forget to make your dinner reservations.
Our thanks to the members who have joined us in this exciting initiative. Their generosity has already helped several worthwhile causes and has elevated the image of the Venice Yacht Club in the community. Just last month, a photo of Past Commodore Graser and me presenting a check in support of our military families appeared in the local Venice newspaper. Please join us in continuing this good work and remember, we never stand taller than when we stoop down to help those who have fallen.
