Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation
From VYC Currents - October 2010
Fellow members...
At their July meeting, the Board of Directors authorized the creation of the Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation. Its purpose is to continue our support of the VYBA and general boating safety while expanding our contribution to other local worthwhile causes such as veterans and active military organizations, health and educational services and the environment.
The committee consists of myself, Kristine Cox, Janice Wood, Merle Graser and Matt DePalma. The Commodore is an ex-officio member. We are already hard at work discussing structure and protocols, planning fund-raising activities and meeting with community leaders. When you see us at the club, please provide your input about this most important initiative.
The Foundation will give members an opportunity to make tax deductible contributions to those in our community who are less fortunate. Current and all future committees will serve without compensation so members can be assured that their contributions will go directly to deserving local organizations without major overhead expenses.
Please watch your mail and this column each month to learn how you and your family, together with your friends at the club, can make a real difference in the lives of those in our community who are less fortunate than we are.
We never stand taller than when we stoop down to help those who have fallen…
