Greetings and Happy New Year VYC members!

For the Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation, Inc., 2022 was an incredible year. We started the year as a Donor Advised Fund and ended as an official 501(C)(3) non-profit corporation.

It was indeed an extraordinary year, and we are most thankful for the generosity and ongoing support of our Venice Yacht Club members, family, and friends. You have helped us continue our mission of helping people at risk in our community. We raised more than our original budget and were able to donate $126,800 in grants in 2022 to over 27 different organizations. With your help, we reached the goal of having donated $1,000,573.00 since the inception of the foundation in 2010. Many deserving organizations in the greater Venice and South County area are thankful for your support.

I would like to thank my fellow foundation committee members in addition to the new VYCCF board of directors for their support. What a great team of hardworking dedicated individuals. I appreciate all you do. Your Volunteer VYCCF “Committee of Leaders” include: Secretary - Bob Scholten, Treasurer - John O'Donnell, Co-Chair - Dave Slaman, Corr. Secretary - Fran Jeffrey, VYC Board Rep. Daniel Morgan. Members are: Kevin Collins, Cheryl Hall, Cheryl Cook, Barbara Isaacson, Noni Lavelle, Beth Piel, Barbara Price, Deb Staudt, Ann Van Cott, Sandy Welch, and Marty Wood.

Our next big event will be The 6th Annual Ride for a Better Community, which takes place on Sunday, Feb. 19. Mark your calendars! Dave Slaman and Steve Bieglecki, ride co-chairs, work very hard to make this community wide event safe and lots of fun. Last year the bike ride raised over $76,000. Thank you to the many riders and sponsors in 2022. Hope to see you all again in 2023.

In addition to the annual bike ride, we will be having a Jazz Under the Stars event on Thursday, April 20. One other event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12, as well as our Donor Appreciation night on Thursday, Nov. 2.

With deepest appreciation, Sylvia Hollister, VYCCF Chair 2023
