If anyone has not heard our spectacular news, the Ride for a Better Community outdid itself in its fifth year with 251 riders and event sponsors. We raised more than $75,436.20 on Sunday, Feb. 20. As I I hoped in my prediction last month, we had a beautiful Venice day and filled the streets with hundreds of riders. They enjoyed a lovely breakfast at the Tiki and lawns of our beautiful Club. Our star riders/fundraisers were feted, and we awarded two grants. The Marine Corps JROTC was given $5,000 for its Cadet Training Obstacle Course, which we hope will be a reality in the near future. Jennifer Fagenbaum of Family Promise was present to receive a like amount to assist with their growth and expansion. Our sincere appreciation to all who made this event a reality once again, especially Co-Chairs Dave Slaman and Steve Bieglecki!

Thank you for your overwhelming response to our volunteer request for our eighth Habitat House. Giving of yourself and your time to these worthy projects is the “greatest” gift!

Please mark your calendars and make your reservations for Jazz Under the Stars on Thursday, April 21. We are thrilled to have the Venice High School Jazz Band playing that evening! While you have your calendars open, please also mark Thursday, June 2, for an evening of fun with the Rockin’ Pianos event.
