Greetings! It is August and we are beginning our Annual Fund Campaign. Since its inception, the Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation, Inc. has donated over $950,000 through June 2022.

We are on our way to reaching the $1 million mark by the end of our fiscal year on Oct. 31, 2022. The Venice Yacht Club membership, family, and friends have all made this year a great success with generous contributions.

Did you know? Qualified Charitable Contributions (QCD’s), also known as IRA charitable rollovers, allow individuals who are at least 70.5 years old (or 72 if born after June 30, 1949) to donate to qualified charities like the Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation, Inc. QCD’s can help offset an individual’s required minimum distribution, which may have tax benefits. To donate by QCD, please contact your IRA custodian. The preceding is an important message from VYCCF’s Chair Sylvia Hollister.

Thanks to your continued generosity, grants presented so far this year are nearing $90,000. Over the course of these summer months, $5,000 grants were made to the Library Foundation of Sarasota County, Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center (SPARCC), and Loveland Center. The library foundation grant will be used to create an outdoor learning center at the Jacaranda Library. Grants of $2,500 are being given to The Haven for Adults and Children with Disabilities, which is making a strong impact in South County, and the Venice Fire Fighters’ Benevolent Fund, whose mission is “to provide assistance and relief to the members of our community in time of need or crisis.”

The VYC-sponsored Habitat for Humanity house key was presented this summer. It was an emotional time for all present! The new homeowner is Regina Pittman and her family. Our volunteers donated over 120 hours towards the completion of this home. Impressive!

We are very close to our fundraising goal of $125,000 for this fiscal year, ending Oct. 31. We no longer have a VYCCF Facebook page, but our website is active and updated each quarter. Please visit us there for current information at VYCCF.com.

With sincere appreciation,
Noni Lavelle
