From VYC Currents - November 2020

Greetings!
As we head into November, many are asking ourselves what day of the week is it? What season is this? Now to our surprise, we see the year winding down with the holidays close at hand. How can this be? Where has the year gone? Many of us have sheltered in place, forgoing regular activities. Some have seen their families only by Zoom or FaceTime. Others have found a “bubble” of friends and family with whom they feel safe socializing. Each of us does what is within our comfort zone. Such a different year for so many people.

Many in our community who are in need are now in desperate times. Some have lost jobs and housing and are helping children learn remotely, while figuring out how to buy groceries. We at VYC have been rising to the needs over and over to assist and support where we can.

Due to your generosity, we have been fighting childhood hunger, supporting housing for those in need, and assisting with children's education and reading programs. We have sustained single moms and their children, women in crisis, youth at risk and homeless teens. We have contributed to a fitness course at Venice High School for teens who desperately need to stay active; encouraged and enabled more youth to develop a love of sailing right here at the Club through our VYBA. We sponsor our veterans in need of day services and those who require support animals, as well as individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We have succeeded in doing all this this because of you! More than $112,000 has been donated to the VYCCF this fiscal year! You are the BEST!

If you want to learn more about the organizations in our community we support, please join us on Thursday, Nov. 5, for VYCCF’s Donor Appreciation Evening. Call the Club for reservations! All are welcome!

With sincere appreciation,
Noni Lavelle
