Greetings as we roll into another stifling month at beautiful VYC!

On June 20, some members of the VYCCF had the pleasure of visiting the Early Childhood Education Center on the Venice YMCA campus. After we were serenaded by Lisa Atwell’s class of three-year-olds, and while the children were being served their lunches, we presented $5000 grant to Lisa, Michelle Butler, Chief Development Officer, and Erin Choker, Marketing Officer.

The mission of The SKY Family YMCA is to put Christian values into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. They accomplish this with programs that build character, and are based on the core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. The Y is an inclusive, nonprofit organization of men, women, and children. They are joined by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility. Services are provided for almost everyone--infants from 6-weeks old through seniors.

Over 52% of children in the Venice Y and PGT Early Childhood Education Centers are on scholarship assistance. The Y has provided over $200,000 in scholarships to just those two centers this year. Two hundred children are fed daily in the Early Childhood Education Centers at the Venice Y Campus and at PGT. They are each provided with a breakfast, lunch, and snack at no additional cost to the parents. Food cost is approximately $5. per day, per child, which the Y covers to ensure that the children have full tummies while in the Y’s care. Our grant will be used towards these costs! The YMCA is doing a stellar job and the VYCCF is happy to be a part of this mission!

In other news, your generous donations to VYCCF since Nov. 1, 2018, total $60,600. Grants made for fiscal year 2019 to date are at $75,000. Please consider a donation so we don't have a shortfall due to the absence of the annual benefit auction. Thank you for all you do as together, we "Chart a Course to a Better Community."

With sincere appreciation,
Noni Lavelle
