From VYC Currents - July 2013

Fellow Members,

We are moving forward! We surpassed the $55,000 mark in donations against our $100,000 goal for the 2013 fund raising campaign ending October 31. Thank you our donor members who have supported the VYCCF and enthusiastically embraced our Build a Truck - Feed the Hungry project. Our VYCCF Captain’s Circle pins are popping up all over the Club; please express your appreciation for their support to those wearing pins.

The spring grant cycle was very successful with 30 grant applications received. In May, VYCCF awarded nine discretionary grants totaling $9,500, and reserved $16,000 for Sprout to be granted this fall. This $25,500 is 80% of the money donated in the November through May cycle and almost twice the total of $16,000 in discretionary grants awarded in all of 2011 and 2012, combined. Since the formation of the VYCCF just over two years ago, members’ generosity has made it possible for discretionary and pass-through grants of $90,000 to 24 charities in areas from which your VYC draws members. VYC members can be proud that the VYC is now recognized as a philanthropic partner in our community.

Spring grants will be highlighted in the next Currents issues, but in the meantime, please go to our page on the VYC website for the total list of grants. You can track our progress against our fund raising goal there, and make a donation by clicking on the “donate now” button. Remember, 80 cents of every dollar donated will go out into our community this year.
