We are honored and pleased to assume the leadership roles for your Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation. In just two short years, the VYC Foundation has attained a prominent position in Venice due to the outstanding stewardship of our past Chairs, first Commodore Tony Zumbano, followed last year by Ann Thompson and Janice Zarro Wood. The Foundation has set a strong course with sound governance, is establishing a positive reputation for itself and the Club in the community, and has helped many people within our community. We owe thanks to our past committee members including Matt DePalma, Merle Graser, Jerry Jarrett, David Yarzab and Bob Piel. While Ann and Janice will move on to other endeavors this year, we are pleased to welcome additional VYC members to the Committee, including Elise John and John Moore.

We are looking forward to an exciting year for your Foundation with some new ideas to increase our level of charitable giving, raise funds and expand our visibility in the community. The Foundation’s success in these undertakings is due to the support and generosity of our VYC membership, such as the members of our Founders Club: Max Eisenbarth, Betty Castigliano Scott, John and Bonnie Sammet, Hubert and Elaine Ocamb and Tony and Kathy Zumbano. Everyone’s support and continuing participation is appreciated. A list of our supporting members can be found under the Charitable Foundation tab on the VYC web site.

The Foundation will continue this year with two grant cycles (May 1 and November 1) and you are encouraged to submit grant applications on behalf of your favorite local charities that support youth boating, health and education, veterans and active military, and the environment. Applications are simple and can be found under the Charitable Foundation tab on the VYC web site. We hope that if you have any questions or suggestions for your Charitable Foundation that you will contact us.
