Tony Zumbano Fellow members... The fact that we’re already into the last few months of 2011 is astonishing to me. Where did all that time go? Over the last twelve months, your Foundation has supported the VYBA, assisted our local military and their families, protected our children through the Boys & Girls Club, provided decent, safe housing through Habitat for Humanity and helped graduates of VHS through a grant to the Rotary Futures program. We are justly proud of all the good work we’ve done this year on behalf of the members of the Venice Yacht Club.

However, in this economy, the need is great and growing. Citizens as well as local, state and federal governments are all reducing contributions to local charities. Our current requests include Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Child Protection Center, All Faiths Food Bank, Senior Friendship Centers, Paws for Patriots and the Special Operations Wounded Warrior Foundation, just to name a few.

As 2011 comes to a close, we now turn our attention to our 2012 fundraising so we are able to respond to these worthwhile causes. Please watch your mail for our annual fundraising letter and consider the Foundation as you plan your end-of-year tax strategies. Our heartfelt thanks to those generous members, listed at left, who contributed to the creation of VYCCF. We hope you will consider continuing your support this year.

A special thanks to our Founders Club members. Founders will be recognized in a permanent display in the newly remodeled Club. There is still time to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity through December 31, 2011. You and your family will surely feel a sense of pride each time you visit the club for years to come.

The Foundation has a dedicated mailbox at the Club. Just write a check and put Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation on the envelope and send it to the Club, or give it to the receptionist, and it will find its way to us. Just make a note whether your gift is for 2011 or 2012. To make contributing even more convenient, we have arranged for secure credit card donations through the Gulf Coast Foundation website. Go to www.gulfcoastcf.org, click on the Give Now icon on the top right side of the screen and then select Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation from the drop down list.

We have demonstrated to the community that VYC is the place for “Good Times and Good Works” and that we never stand taller than when we stoop down to help those who have fallen.
